Slipknot release behind-the-scenes for their latest single “Arsenal”

A montage of behind-the-scenes video from the recording sessions for Slipknot‘s contentious new song “Arsenal” has recently been released, as per theprp. That song was unexpectedly released as a stand-alone single by the masked metal group last week. Later, guitarist Jim Root clarified that it wasn’t meant for the band’s upcoming new album. The song has received a mixed response, with strong opinions expressed on social media comment areas and on other websites. In addition to this new song, the group has been working on their eighth studio album in the last few weeks with producer Matt Wallace (Faith No More, Mushroomhead), who also contributed to the production of “Arsenal.”

Slipknot‘s upcoming album will be released on their recently established (sic)est Records label, which they established in collaboration with Roadrunner/Atlantic. Naturally, “Arsenal” was certain to cause some controversy, given the band is moving away from their classic era lineup after splitting with sampler/programmer Craig “133” Jones and turntablist Sid Wilson in recent years.

Percussionist Shawn Crahan, singer Anders Colsefni, and bassist Paul Grey founded the American heavy metal group Slipknot in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995. From 1999 until Gray’s passing in 2010, the band had nine members—Crahan, Grey, Joey Jordison, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root—after a number of lineup changes in its early years. Slipknot is well-known for their eye-catching appearance, combative musical style, and exuberant, wild live performances. “Mate. Kill. Feed. Repeat.”, the band’s first demo record was a failure, but once their first self-titled studio album, “Slipknot”, was released in 1999, they quickly became well-known worldwide.

Slipknot‘s 2001 album, “Iowa,” despite its darker and more aggressive sound, propelled the band to greater fame. Following a short break, they released “Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)” in 2004. This was followed by another hiatus before their comeback in 2008 with “All Hope Is Gone,” which immediately topped the US Billboard 200. Slipknot took another extended break before finally releasing their fifth studio album, “.5: The Gray Chapter,” in 2014. The band put out their sixth studio album, “We Are Not Your Kind,” in August 2019. Three years later, on September 30, 2022, they followed up with their seventh studio album, “The End, So Far”. In addition to these studio albums, they have also recorded two live performances, documented as “9.0: Live” and “Day of the Gusano: Live in Mexico”.
