Saxon reveal the title of their upcoming new album

At this past weekend’s Maid of Stone event at Mote Park, Maidstone, Kent, UK, Saxon guitarist Brian Tatler told Neil Jones of TotalRock that the band’s next studio album will be titled “Gods Of Thunder”, as per Blabbermouth. Below is a brief video of Tatler telling Jones the new Saxon LP title.

Components of two bands from Yorkshire, S.O.B. and Coast, joined together to form Saxon. When the former first formed in 1970 with guitarist Graham Oliver, bassist Steve “Dobby” Dawson, and drummer John Walker, they were known as Blue Condition. Hard rock and blues rock were their styles. Inspired by the 1969 Free album “Tonnes of Sobs”, Blue Condition changed their name to S.O.B. in 1974. In the meantime, Trapeze‘s 1972 song “Coast to Coast” inspired the name of a local rival rock group called Coast. Paul Quinn, a guitarist, and Peter “Biff” Byford, a singer and bassist, made up Coast. A new band was founded in November 1975 after Coast was disintegrating and Steve Furth, the lead singer and guitarist of S.O.B., quit to pursue a solo career.
