Saxon release ‘Medusa’ video from upcoming ‘Gods of Thunder’ album

Author Staff - 27.10.2026

Saxon have shared “Medusa”, the second single from their upcoming album “Gods of Thunder”, together with an official music video. The song arrived on October 27, ahead of the record’s January 22, 2027 release through Silver Lining Music.

Taking its subject from Greek mythology, the track recounts the story of Medusa, the figure whose gaze could turn onlookers to stone. The band have turned the myth into a driving traditional heavy metal song, with vocalist Biff Byford highlighting the epic nature of its story.

New record and expanded 2027 touring plans

“Gods of Thunder” was produced by Byford and mixed by Andy Sneap. Its songs explore historical and mythical subjects, continuing a storytelling approach that has been central to Saxon‘s work for decades. Guitarists Doug Scarratt and Brian Tatler feature alongside drummer Nigel Glockler and bassist Tim “Nibbs” Carter.

The band have also confirmed Armored Saint as special guests for the British and Irish leg of the “Gods of Thunder” tour. Selected continental European dates will bring back Saxon‘s large mechanized eagle stage prop, notably in Brussels, Zurich, Cologne and Tilburg.

For Finnish fans, Saxon have already confirmed a concert at Helsinki’s Kulttuuritalo on March 6, 2027. Watch the official “Medusa” music video below. The full album is due January 22, 2027.
