Pro-shot footage of Post Malone performing Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” with original members released

Professionally filmed footage of Post Malone performing with Nirvana’s surviving classic lineup members has been released in full online. The multi-diamond certified rapper, country artist, and actor joined forces with grunge legends’ drummer Dave Grohl, bassist Krist Novoselic, and guitarist Pat Smear as part of Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary concert last weekend.

Together they performed Nirvana‘s diamond-certified 1991 breakthrough hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit“. Malone’s admiration for Nirvana was previously showcased in 2020 when he fronted a Nirvana tribute band featuring Travis Barker (Blink-182) and others, raising millions for COVID-19 relief. That livestreamed performance received praise from Nirvana themselves. In what appears to be no coincidence, that benefit performance will be released on vinyl this Record Store Day (April 12th) under the title “Post Malone Tribute To Nirvana”.
