Bassist and producer Mat Sinner of Primal Fear was asked in a recent interview with George Dionne of KNAC.COM if he and his bandmates were pleased with the reaction to their most recent album, “Domination,” which was released by Reigning Phoenix Music in September of last year, as per Blabbermouth.

Absolutely. The latest reports of the record company is that ‘Domination’ overall sold more copies than the one before, which is not so common in these days. Everybody is complaining, ‘Oh, nobody’s buys CD anymore or vinyl anymore,’ blah, blah, blah.

I think the super young kids [don’t] listen to our music anyway, so the streamers, they are not our priority. Our priority are people who enjoy the music, who give the music time, put it on, crank it up, listen. These albums also, they’re not made for an iPhone. They are made for proper system that you can really enjoy the music. And this is important. So for me, I still make music not for iPhones.

Additionally, Mat stated that Primal Fear is already working diligently on “Domination”‘s sequel.

The album will be released in April [of 2027], but before, as always, we have two singles and videos, and this can start also in January, and, yeah, I’m really looking forward [to putting it out].

Mat responded as follows when asked if he could yet reveal the title of the new Primal Fear album.

Yes. I tell you. I don’t care. The album is called ‘Shadow Riders’. Dark. Yeah, it’s also a track on the album. Great track. Yeah. Let’s start the buzz.”

Ralf Scheepers and Mat Sinner formed Primal Fear in October 1997. Ralf Scheepers was a vocalist for the bands Tyran PaceF.B.I., and the globally popular band Gamma Ray. The idea to start Primal Fear emerged following a performance with his Judas Priest cover band Just Priest, in which Tom Naumann and Mat Sinner assisted. In late 1997, they got a record contract with Nuclear Blast Records. One of the highest chart entries for a debut album in German metal, “Primal Fear” was released in February 1998 and peaked at number 48 on the German LP charts. They went on tour with HammerFall and Running Wild that same year.
