All good things come in threes. And that’s perhaps the case for the upcoming tour of Papa Roach in Europe, with Landmvrks and Sleep Theory as opening acts. We went to their show in Glasgow at the OVO Hydro, and this is what happened there…
Opening the evening was Sleep Theory. Unfortunately, due to a ticketing issue at the door, I managed to catch only the final two songs of their set. However, even within those brief minutes, their tight delivery and emotional modern rock hooks clearly resonated with the early crowd, setting a solid foundation for the night—a presence that would leave a lasting impression later on.
Next up were French metalcore titans Landmvrks, who practically stole the show’s early momentum. The sheer volume of Landmvrks shirts scattered throughout the crowd proved that a massive portion of the audience was there specifically for them. From their very first riff, they ignited the venue’s first massive circle pit. Complemented by a beautifully designed, high-effort light show, Landmvrks delivered a masterclass in modern heavy music, warming up the room into a frenzy.
Finally, Papa Roach’s show in one word could be described as fantastic. Opening their set with a explosive rendition of “Between Angels and Insects”, the room instantly erupted into absolute chaos. Jacoby Shaddix and company have a rare talent for outdoing themselves with every single tour, and this performance was no exception.
The production was packed with unforgettable moments: Landmvrks’ vocalist joined the band on stage for a brutal feature during “See You In Hell”, while Sleep Theory’s frontman returned to collaborate on a triumphant performance of “Born For Greatness”. Their signature “Nu-Metal Time Machine” mashup sequence drove the crowd completely wild, creating a bridge between generations of heavy music fans. Nostalgic classics like “She Loves Me Not”, “Blood Brothers”, and an emotional sing-along to “Scars” connected deeply with the room, keeping a non-stop stream of crowd surfers and relentless pit action moving until the very last note.
