Last Train and LANDMVRKS occupy a unique place on the French music scene. Two fiercely independent bands, both of which have developed far from the beaten track, with live music at the heart of their respective stories. Hailing from Alsace and Marseille respectively, these two outsiders started out at a very young age, grew up on stage and allowed time to transform the raw energy of their early days into careers of great depth.
Year after year, gig after gig, they have established themselves as two of the few French bands of their generation capable of taking their music far beyond national borders, to major stages and festivals around the world. Although their musical styles may differ, Last Train and LANDMVRKS share the same instinctive approach to music: uncompromising, physical and deeply emotional.
Beneath the raw energy of their live performances and the power of their songs lies the same meticulous attention to songwriting: sensitive and meticulous in its detail, with vulnerability always serving the intensity.
It is from this common ground that “The Very End Of Every Me” emerges. A collaboration shaped less by what sets the two bands apart than by everything that has brought them together from the very beginning. Written collectively, the song was not conceived as a clash between two identities, but as a natural extension of both.
The voices of Jean-Noël Scherrer and Florent Salfati intertwine and echo one another throughout the track, which is as melancholic as it is powerful. Having spent the summer crossing paths on the stages of some of Europe’s most important international festivals — from the Download Festival in the UK to Rock Werchter in Belgium — this collaboration feels less like an unexpected encounter and more like the natural continuation of two parallel journeys.
The guitars are back — and France seems determined to make its voice heard.
