Nummirock has announced the first 12 acts for its 2027 edition, led by German thrash metal veterans Kreator, who will return to the Finnish festival after 21 years. The band will headline Thursday, June 24, and according to the organizers, the appearance will be its only Finnish show of summer 2027. The festival takes place in Nummijärvi, Kauhajoki, from June 23 to 26.
The first announcement also includes Turmion Kätilöt, Norther, Insomnium and Rytmihäiriö. Among the most notable bookings is Norther, which is set to return to live performances after a 14-year absence. Industrial metal favorites Turmion Kätilöt recently played Helsinki Ice Hall and reached the top of Finland’s music chart, while Insomnium will bring its melodic death metal to the festival.
Finnish black metal band Havukruunu is scheduled to play its only summer 2027 show outside the Helsinki metropolitan area’s Ring III road at Nummirock. Melodic death metal group Mors Principium Est will make its only festival appearance of the summer there, while Tampere punk band Huora has also joined the bill.
The remaining names in the first wave are Brymir, Whispered, Ashen Tomb and Hyljätyt. Brymir celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2026, and samurai-themed metal band Whispered recently returned with the album “Honorbound” after a decade without a new full-length. Ashen Tomb represents Helsinki’s death metal scene, while Hyljätyt features musicians associated with Stam1na and Wolfheart.

The 2027 festival marks 40 years since Nummirock was first held in 1987. Organizers describe it as the world’s second-oldest metal festival still in operation. A commemorative book titled “Nummirock 1987–2027 – Suomen raskain kyläjuhla” (Finland’s Heaviest Village Celebration) is scheduled for publication in May 2027.
Advance four-day tickets are on sale through the official Nummirock website. All ticket types include space for a car and tent. The festival has no general age restriction, although organizers recommend that unaccompanied visitors be at least 16 years old.
Special tickets for 10–15-year-olds will be released later. Children under 10 can attend free of charge when accompanied by a responsible guardian. Details of the festival’s 2027 band camp will also be announced at a later date.
