Some time ago, a metal fan calling himself Prince Midnight built an electric guitar from the skeleton of his dead uncle. Midnight has since built toilet seat covers inspired by the covers of various metal albums.
Now, as part of the Hellmouth Plumbing Supply art project, a much more unique toilet seat has been built. Prince Midnight built a clay sculpture of Lars Ulrich on the toilet so you can sit on the drummer’s lap while you do your business – or practice your marksmanship while standing.
“Make no mistake, this is not me taking a jab at Lars. This is my way, albeit unconventional, to honor Lars Ulrich and Metallica”, Midnight tells to Loudwire and continues:
“I could have painted a picture or made a traditional sculpture, but no one would have even noticed, and really, that’s not the kind of art and performance I do. The first band I ever loved was Metallica, the first record I became obsessed with, the first music I ever dove into, the concert I ever attended.”
The sculpture’s face is modelled on photographs of Lars Ulrich from the 1980s, but the legs and arms are based on moulds made from Prince Midnight’s own limbs.
Prince Midnight says the sculpture is fully operational, and that he plans to move it to the Brass Mug music restaurant in Florida for public use soon.
Photos of the piece can be seen below.
