In 1988, the American alternative metal group Deftones was founded in Sacramento, California. Frontman Chino Moreno, lead guitarist Stephen Carpenter, and drummer Abe Cunningham created the band. In 1990 and 1999, bassist Chi Cheng and keyboardist and turntablist Frank Delgado joined the lineup, respectively. Deftones signed a recording deal with Maverick Records when the lineup resolved in 1994, and they went on to release their debut album “Adrenaline” in 1995. Deftones developed a devoted fan following through extensive touring and word-of-mouth marketing of the record.
