Sad news for Nightwish fans who planned to see the band’s final live performance before their indefinite hiatus from touring tonight at the Tons Of Rock festival 2023 in Norway’s capital Oslo: Said performance has been cancelled. The reason for the cancellation is said to be health issues of Nightwish frontwoman Floor Jansen who is heavily pregnant at the moment:

“Due to circumstances concerning Floor’s health, we’re unfortunately forced to cancel our show in Oslo on the 22nd of June. Floor’s pregnancy is totally unaffected, and she heads home for some much needed rest. Even though all six of us are gutted over this decision, it was an easy one to make, as health must always come first. On a more positive note, the rehearsals and recordings of the new album begin in less than two weeks, so onwards!”

The cancellation means that Nightwish‘s performance in Vaasa in their home country Finland last Saturday (17 June 2023) already marked the band’s final live performance before their indefinite hiatus from touring.

The vacancy at the Tons Of Rock festival has already been filled by the Norwegian alternative rockers Madrugada:

“We understand that this is a bummer for the fans of the band, but we’ll give it our all […], and we hope you’ll come and cheer us on.”

Also the organisers of the Tons Of Rock festival express great joy and gratitude regarding the replacement:

“We are incredibly happy that, at record speed, Madrugada has confirmed that they can step in and play at Tons of Rock […]. Madrugada is one of Norway’s biggest rock bands of all time, and we are very grateful that they took the plunge and will play their first Tons of Rock show ever.”
