Kai Hahto says his long-dormant band Misantropia are discussing the possibility of recording previously unreleased material. Speaking in a Chaoszine video interview, the drummer explained that the group has songs that were only ever captured at rehearsals.
Hahto joined Misanthropia in 1993. The band released Finnish-language demos and a five-track mini-CD before ceasing activity around the end of the 1990s. The musicians reunited for a performance at Chaos Festival in summer 2026.
“We are talking about this, especially with Misanthropia, that we don’t end up in here because there was a lot of material we never recorded,” Hahto said.
He suggested that the band might work with Kimmo, a Nightwish front-of-house engineer who has a studio in Kauhava. The idea is to rehearse and arrange a recording date, although nothing has yet been confirmed.
Revisiting the material has also sent Hahto digging through his collection of old rehearsal cassettes, many of which his former bandmates no longer possessed.
