Drummer Kai Hahto has revealed that he recently uncovered old rehearsal recordings from Wintersun, Rotten Sound and other projects while preparing his 35th-anniversary performances.
In a Chaoszine interview, Hahto said he spent a couple of days sorting through hundreds of cassette tapes, initially looking for old Misantropia material that had never been properly recorded.
“Luckily, I had all those stuff. I didn’t throw anything away,” he said.
Among the discoveries were Rotten Sound rehearsals and tapes of Hahto practising for Wintersun’s debut and “Time” albums. He admitted that revisiting some of the drumming left him wondering how he had played certain passages decades earlier.
The archive search also helped the reunited Misantropia revisit songs that some other members no longer had recordings of. The band has discussed the possibility of recording previously unreleased material, although no new release has been confirmed.
