Like every beginning, we must unfortunately report also on every end: there is no longer an Iron Maiden tour plane. In 2016 and 2017, the skies were dominated by the heavy metal giants and their painted Boeing 747-400, Ed Force 1. The eerie Eddie the Head from Iron Maiden, who frequently appears in the band’s artwork, inspired the plane’s moniker. The maiden flight of the 747 that would become Ed Force 1 took place in 2003, and the last flight was in 2022. Unfortunately, it has been sent to the scrapyard where we are all waiting. However, the plane’s tragedy also led to its resurrection as an Aviationtag rock ‘n’ roll souvenir.
Aviationtag, a Cologne, Germany-based company, converted the aircraft’s skin into a numbered set of 12,000 aviation “luggage tags” during the deconstruction process for Ed Force 1. Aviationtag has produced comparable souvenirs of commercial, military, and civilian aircraft, including the first Emirates Airbus A380 and an El Al 747. Fans of both music and flying can now acquire a unique keepsake of the cherished plane. Celebrate the band’s illustrious history of using the iconic Boeing 747 as a “flying tour bus” with Aviationtag’s new “Iron Maiden Edition: Ed Force One” luggage tag set. The well-known band used the plane to go from show to show while on their Book of Souls tour. Dickinson himself flew the aircraft on occasion!
The Boeing 747 TF-AAK, which was demolished in 2024, was used to make the Aviationtag x Iron Maiden Edition. The distinctive Ed Force One emblem is prominently displayed on the front of the tag, while Iron Maiden‘s recognizable mascot, Eddie, is featured on the back. This design honors the aircraft’s legendary history and unites rock ‘n’ roll culture with aviation legacy. It can be used as a collectible, a distinctive luggage tag, or a key chain. An illustrated booklet with a thorough interview with Bruce Dickinson, the singer and pilot of Iron Maiden, is included with every Ed Force One Aviationtag. Priced at 66,66€, the Iron Maiden Ed Force One Aviationtag alludes to the band’s well-known song, “666 – Number of the Beast.” Purchase the airtag here!
We have been working on this project for over two years, and we’re proud to finally present our Aviationtag x Iron Maiden Edition. With this exclusive Aviationtag edition, fans can now hold a tangible piece of aviation and rock history in their hands. Ed Force One is one of the most famous aircraft in the world, and this edition captures its enduring legacy in a truly collectible form. Tobias Richter, Chief Commercial Officer at Aviationtag
