“I think ‘eclectic’ is a good word to describe this album” – Overkill’s Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth on the band’s new LP “Scorched”

Author Hernan Osuna - 2.4.2023

For over 3 and a half decades Overkill‘s bottom line crazy method of thrash has produced some of the most significant moments in the world of metal. Now in the latter half of their career, the New Jersey thrash metal veterans show all their experience with “Scorched” sounding more mature, refined, and embellished with hints of more than just thrash metal. The brand new album is set to be released on April 14 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Overkill‘s 2023 incarnation will shift the spotlight to decidedly bespoke experiences for thrash metal fans. Louder? Yes. Faster? Maybe. But, everything is surrounded by a sense of elevation, uniqueness, and distinctive personality. Ten ton heavy metal with a perfect blend.

Watch below Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth’s journey from growing up in New Jersey to iconic-building thrash metal group Overkill. Past, present, and future with a veteran of a thousand battles. The new album, Ellsworth’s health issues, his opinion regarding Jason Bittner’s drumming, a piece of advice to aspiring musicians (“Just keep writing and writing. Get better. And get the fuck out of my way!”), and more.
