Metal Allegiance will return to the House Of Blues in Anaheim, California, on January 28, 2027, for its annual hometown-style metal gathering, bringing together members of Mastodon, Overkill, Armored Saint, Opeth and more for a special performance.
The collective’s core lineup — bassist Mark Menghi, guitarist Alex Skolnick of Testament, drummer Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater and former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson — will be joined by Fredrik Åkesson of Opeth, Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth of Overkill, John Bush of Armored Saint, former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman, Queensrÿche vocalist Todd La Torre, Troy Sanders of Mastodon, guitarist Angel Vivaldi and additional guests.
Friedman will also bring his band to the event as part of the support lineup, alongside Wicked and Lost Legacy. As with previous Metal Allegiance concerts, the night is expected to combine the collective’s original material with special collaborations and performances celebrating the musicians’ shared metal roots.
“It’s hard to believe we first launched this Anaheim tradition back in 2014 when Metal Allegiance was just getting off the ground,” Menghi said. “It’s been an incredible ride. Over a decade of thrashing Anaheim with original music, surprise guests, and epic jams — and somehow, every single year the energy just gets crazier. See you in the pit, SoCal!”
Portnoy described the annual event as one of his favourite shows of the year, while Skolnick said the 2027 edition would bring together returning favourites and first-time participants. Ellefson called the concert a “Metal Allegiance family reunion” and said he was looking forward to welcoming friends and guests to Anaheim again.
The Live Nation presale is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 21, at 10 a.m. Eastern Time, with general ticket sales opening Thursday, October 22, at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. VIP meet-and-greet and soundcheck packages are also being offered.
Metal Allegiance was formed around the idea of bringing together musicians from across the heavy metal scene. The group has released two full-length albums of original material and an EP, and recently signed with Reigning Phoenix Music. Earlier this year, the collective released “Black Horizon”, its first original song since 2018, featuring Alice In Chains vocalist William DuVall.
