“I had to let some shit go from my system after Blind Channel” – Interview with Joel Hokka

Author Selma Savolainen - 23.4.2026

Former Finnish rock band Blind Channel singer Joel Hokka is debuting his solo project HOKKA with an album called “Via Miseria IV”. Hokka has been signed internationally to Nuclear Blast Records. Hokka was interviewed by Chaoszine about the story and inspiration behind HOKKA‘s visual image and musical components.

He reveals to be greatly inspired by Japanese media and also, surprisingly the anti-hero Anakin Skywalker. Unlike Anakin, Hokka is not performing “Dark Side” anymore since his split with Blind Channel in 2025. However in the interview Hokka explains to be on great terms with the current Blind Channel members.

Previously Hokka had revealed in a Chaoszine interview that he tends to speak very openly and in a care-free manner. We asked Hokka how his relationship with the public has changed since his Blind Channel times to now being a solo-project artist.

“Now that I have a big record label behind me and a lot of fans as well as big festival shows, I know that I have to take care of myself and the project.”

The HOKKA band consists of Joel Hokka in the vocals, Pauli Rantasalmi on the guitar and Jimi Aslak on the drums.
