Gaerea unveil ‘Shallow’ collaboration with Paranormal Attack, launching four-version series
Author Staff - 27.10.2026
Portuguese masked metal act Gaerea have taken a step into electronic territory with a newly shared version of “Shallow”, created in collaboration with fellow Portuguese artists Paranormal Attack. The track is the opening instalment of a four-part project that will present the same composition through different artistic partnerships.
The first version brings Gaerea‘s dark, metal-rooted aesthetic together with Paranormal Attack‘s psy-trance background. Rather than unveiling four separate songs, the band are presenting four interpretations of “Shallow”, each involving another collaborator.
Gaerea open the door to outside collaborators
In a public statement accompanying the release, Gaerea explained that they had kept a tight grip on their music during the group’s first decade. The new project changes that approach, inviting other musicians to participate in shaping the sound. The band also linked the initiative to the creative direction of its album “Loss”.
The collaboration makes the contrast between metal and dance music part of the concept. Paranormal Attack‘s appearance on the first track also gives listeners an indication of how far Gaerea may be willing to move beyond conventional genre boundaries across the remaining versions.
Details of the other three collaborators and release dates for those interpretations were not confirmed in the initial report. The newly available “Shallow (Paranormal Attack Remix)” can be heard below.
