Former Children Of Bodom members talk publicly first time about Alexi Laiho’s passing: “I knew immediately after receiving the call from Henkka that Alexi had passed away”

One of the most wellknown metal bands to ever come from Finland, Children Of Bodom, played their last show as a band on December 15th at the Icehall of Helsinki.

After playing the final show as a band the guitarist / vocalist Alexi Laiho and guitarist Daniel Freyberg went to form a new band Bodom After Midnight but unfortunately the band’s was cut short after Alexi Laiho’s tragic passing on December 29th, 2020.

Former Children Of Bodom guitarists Roope Latvala and Alexander Kuoppala has shared their stories on the passing of their former bandmate on Chaoszine’s video interviews but now for the first time Henkka Seppälä, Jaska Raatikainen and Janne Wirman have also publicly commented how did they hear about the passing of their longtime friend and bandmate.

During a recent live stream Henkka, Jaska and Janne did at Children Of Bodom‘s Instagram page they revealed that Henkka was actually the first one getting the news of Laiho’s passing as their manager Jouni Markkanen who also managed Laiho’s last band Bodom After Midnight reached to him and shared the unfortunate news.

Henkka says in the video he almost fainted after getting the news and had to get on the floor for couple of minutes to digest the news and after hearing from the manager that he couldn’t reach Jaska Raatikainen and Janne Wirman to share the news Henkka said he will call the other members to inform them.

When Henkka reached out to Janne and Jaska before he started to tell the tragic news he said they need to sit down before he starts telling the news. Jaska and Janne says in the video they immediately knew that Alexi had passed away knowing his bad medical condition.

Janne says in the video that Alexi should have asked medical help for his issues but because he denied the help it was only a matter of time when they will receive the news and that’s why it didn’t come as a big suprise even though obviously you can never prepare yourself for such tragic and sad news.
