Funk rock legends Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to headline a special benefit concert at the Hollywood Palladium on October 17, as per theprp. The star-studded event will also feature appearances from rapper Vince Staples, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, and comedian-actor Marc Maron. All proceeds from the evening will benefit the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, the non-profit educational institution co-founded by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea. Presale tickets for the concert become available this Thursday, September 24, at 10:00 AM local time, followed by the general public on-sale starting Friday, September 25, at the same time.
The Silverlake Conservatory of Music is a nonprofit music school providing music classes to over 1,000 students, including a scholarship program that offers free music lessons to students in need. Our community support helps SCM raise the funds necessary to sustain their music programming for the calendar year, increasing the number of scholarships granted to families in need. The Silverlake Conservatory of Music has a rich history of high-profile fundraising and collaborative releases, spearheaded by its annual “Hullabaloo” benefit. Notably, an August 24, 2011 event at Club Nokia featuring the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eddie Vedder, and Charlie Haden raised $1 million for the school. Flea directly supported the facility on July 19, 2012, by releasing his debut solo EP, “Helen Burns”, exclusively through the Silverlake website. The EP featured contributions from co-founder Keith Barry, Patti Smith, former RHCP drummer Jack Irons, current RHCP drummer Chad Smith, and the Silverlake kids’ and adults’ choir, directed by S.J. Hasman. Years later, on November 2, 2019, the Chili Peppers reunited with Eddie Vedder for another benefit, marking the band’s final performance with guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.
The facility’s students and vocalists have also expanded their recording footprint in recent years. In June 2021, the choir appeared on the Andy Gill tribute compilation, covering Gang of Four‘s “Not Great Men” alongside artists like IDLES, Gary Numan, La Roux, The Dandy Warhols, and Killing Joke. Most recently, a student ensemble performing as the Silverlake Conservatory of Music All-Stars issued a series of tribute releases in 2025, honoring The Pretenders in May, Neil Young in July, and Red Hot Chili Peppers in September.
