Courtney LaPlante, the singer of Spiritbox, has responded to criticism that has recently been levelled at her for ordering security to remove an unruly concertgoer from a recent performance in Phoenix, Arizona, as per theprp. Earlier this week, footage of the July 15th incident—in which the band stopped their performance to have the concertgoer removed—made headlines. LaPlante has received criticism and encouragement for how she handled the situation. Her detractors have assumed that the fan was expelled for crowd-killing or moshing. I think it was just because of my “karate” comment, I was trying to make a light joke to kind of break the tension, people were really freaked out by that guy punching kids in the face.
