Converge recently released a music video for their song “It Used To Matter,” which was filmed by Morgan Tedd, as per theprp. That song is from the renowned metalcore band’s second full-length album of the year, “Hum Of Hurt.” In addition to the new images, the band released the dates for a headline tour of Europe and the UK today, July 8. They will travel with British mathcore band Pupil Slicer, native black metaller Blackbraid, and death metal group Sanguisugabogg. At 10:00 a.m. local time on Friday, July 10th, tickets will go on sale.
In Salem, Massachusetts, vocalist and performer Jacob Bannon and guitarist and producer Kurt Ballou founded the American metalcore group Converge in 1990. When guitarist Aaron Dalbec left the group while recording their historic fourth album Jane Doe in 2001, bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller joined, making the group a four-piece. Since then, this lineup hasn’t changed. Additionally, the members have participated in a number of side projects and joint ventures, such as the bands Mutoid Man (Koller), Old Man Gloom (Newton), and Supermachiner (Bannon). They are the forerunners of metalcore and its subgenre mathcore with their incredibly aggressive and boundary-pushing sound, which has its roots in heavy metal and hardcore.
Converge gained notoriety with “Jane Doe”, which was named the finest album of 2001 by Terroriser, the best album of the decade by Sputnikmusic, and subsequently the 61st-best metal album of all time by Rolling Stone. Their album production became more intricate and costly once they switched from Equal Vision Records to the bigger label Epitaph Records. Bannon founded Deathwish Inc. in 1999 to handle special releases. Their most recent releases are their eleventh studio album, “Love Is Not Enough” (2026), and their first full-length joint album, “Bloodmoon: I” (2021) with Chelsea Wolfe. On June 5, 2026, their eleventh album, “Hum of Hurt”, was made available.
