Converge performed a last-minute show in the parking lot of Epitaph Records’ Los Angeles headquarters this past Thursday, May 14, as per theprp. Those in attendance reported that the group tore through a 12-song set after being announced just hours before the renowned metalcore band took the stage. Here is a fan-shot video from the group’s small-scale performance, which took place during the last dates of their tour with Poison The Well, The Armed, and The Barbarians of California.

On June 5th, Converge will release “Hum Of Hurt,” their second new album of the year, in what appears to be their most successful year to date. This new full-length album is the result of the same composition and recording processes that produced the last comeback album, “Love Is Not Enough,” which was released in February of last year. The first conventional Converge record to be released since 2017 was “Love Is Not Enough.”

The American metalcore group Converge was founded in 1990 in Salem, Massachusetts, by guitarist and producer Kurt Ballou and singer and artist Jacob Bannon. When guitarist Aaron Dalbec left the group while recording their historic fourth album “Jane Doe” in 2001, bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller joined, making the group a four-piece. Since then, this lineup hasn’t changed. Additionally, the members have participated in a number of side projects and joint ventures, such as the bands Mutoid Man (Koller), Old Man Gloom (Newton), and Supermachiner (Bannon). They are the forerunners of metalcore and its subgenre mathcore with their incredibly aggressive and boundary-pushing sound, which has its roots in heavy metal and hardcore. Converge became well-known with “Jane Doe”, which Terroriser named the greatest album of 2001.
