Chino Moreno of Deftones falls on stage during the show in New Zealand

Author Benedetta Baldin - 14.5.2026

During the Deftones‘ May 13th performance at the Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand, singer and guitarist Chino Moreno fell onstage, as per theprp. Fifteen songs into the 19-song set list for that evening, there was an unexpected close encounter with the stage. Paradoxically, it also happened while they were performing “Hole In The Earth,” the first single from their fifth studio album, “Saturday Night Wrist.” Over the years, Moreno has experienced several onstage falls, including an off-stage mishap in 2017 that resulted in a broken foot. The 52-year-old handled this most recent onstage mishap well, bouncing back fast and barely missing a beat. Additionally, he completed the rest of the set without any problems.

Moreno has at least a few days to recover if he was hurt in any way other than his pride. Deftones‘ headline tour of Australia and New Zealand came to an end with the aforementioned performance. The prestigious ensemble will perform three times throughout Japan beginning on Monday, May 18.
