Burn Eternal, the long-awaited metal project reuniting former Killswitch Engage vocalist Howard Jones and guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, have announced the release of their debut single, “Wounds I’ve Made”.

The track will arrive on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Pacific / 12:00 p.m. Eastern, marking the first official release from the duo’s collaboration. A short teaser has already been shared through Metal Blade Records, which recently signed Burn Eternal for the release of their completed debut album.

Burn Eternal reveal the meaning behind “Wounds I’ve Made”

According to a press release, the upcoming single addresses personal mistakes, regret and the difficult process of moving forward. The song explores the importance of recognizing past experiences while accepting that change is sometimes necessary for personal growth. It also reflects on relationships that may no longer have a place in someone’s life.

Although fans have been waiting several years to hear the collaboration, the announcement finally provides a confirmed release date for the project’s first song. The accompanying lyric video is scheduled to premiere alongside the single on November 5.

Howard Jones and Adam Dutkiewicz reunite after years of anticipation

Burn Eternal brings together two musicians who played an important role in shaping the sound of modern metalcore during their years in Killswitch Engage.

Jones served as the band’s vocalist from 2002 until 2012, appearing on influential albums including “The End Of Heartache” (2004), “As Daylight Dies” (2006) and the band’s 2009 self-titled release. Dutkiewicz, meanwhile, remains a guitarist and key songwriter in Killswitch Engage, as well as an established metal producer.

The two musicians began developing Burn Eternal several years ago, with work on their debut album progressing throughout 2023 and 2024. Despite completing the recording and mastering process, the project experienced delays while the musicians searched for a suitable record label.

In October 2026, Burn Eternal officially announced their signing with Metal Blade Records, bringing the long-awaited release a significant step closer. Jones described the project as an opportunity to reconnect creatively with an old friend, while Dutkiewicz expressed his excitement about finally sharing the music with listeners.

Debut album completed, release details still to come

Although Burn Eternal’s debut album has already been completed, the band have not yet revealed its title, track listing or official release date. The forthcoming release of “Wounds I’ve Made” will therefore offer the first substantial indication of what fans can expect from the new collaboration.

With Jones’ distinctive vocals and Dutkiewicz’s songwriting and production background, the project has attracted considerable interest among longtime Killswitch Engage listeners. The teaser for “Wounds I’ve Made” is available here.
