Bruce Kulick, a former guitarist for the band KISS, is recuperating after “heart valve surgery”, as per Blabbermouth. The 72-year-old artist, who was also a member of Grand Funk Railroad, thanked his “heart surgeon and their fantastic staff for looking after me like a rockstar” and described the procedure as “a success” on social media. “On the road to recovery” and “taking it one step at a time” were his other words. In addition, he expressed his gratitude for his wife Lisa’s “love and support” in his letter. Kulick stated that “this was NOT emergency surgery” and explained that “an aortic birth defect caused a valve to become a danger” in response to a media outlet’s false allegation that Bruce had had “emergency open heart surgery”.
Bruce received social media support from a number of people, including Gene Simmons, Kulick‘s old bandmate from KISS.
Go Bruce, Go. With Lisa by your side, you can lick anything. You know we’re all rooting for you. And can’t wait for you and Lisa to cook up a new batch of pancakes for all of us.
After joining the band KISS in 1984, Kulick played lead guitar for them for twelve years. Bruce remained with KISS until the 1996 reunion tour, having joined them on the “Animalise” tour. The band’s DVDs covering KISS’s legendary career, “Kissology – Vol. 2” and “Vol. 3,” show a lot of Bruce. Kulick performed on six KISS studio albums and two live records before starting his own company in 2024 to sell period-appropriate guitars influenced by his KISS tenure. Bruce gave a performance during the weekend-long “KISS Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas” event held at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas from November 14–16 of last year. He is slated to perform at the same event in 2026.
