Anthrax perform new songs for the first time including a tribute to Lou Koller (Sick Of It All)

Author Benedetta Baldin - 6.9.2026

Anthrax performed a small-scale show on Friday, September 4 at the Saint Vitus Bar’s new location in Brooklyn, New York, which is located at 428 Troutman Street in Bushwick (the former residence of Brooklyn Made), as per Blabbermouth. When Saint Vitus Bar first opened in 2011, it could accommodate 250 people. Local hardcore bands and major artists, such as members of Nirvana, Blink-182, Megadeth, and Anthrax, performed there. Eventually, in February 2024, the Department of Buildings abruptly closed the venue during a hardcore performance after finding that it did not have the necessary licenses to host live music.

Bassist Dan Lilker and rhythm guitarist Scott Ian founded the New York City-based American heavy metal group Anthrax in 1981. Together with MetallicaMegadeth, and Slayer, the band is regarded as one of the pioneers of the 1980s thrash metal scene and one of the “Big Four” of the genre. Along with Overkill and Nuclear Assault, they were among the earliest thrash metal bands to come out of the East Coast. Scott Ian, drummer Charlie Benante, bassist Frank Bello, singer Joey Belladonna, and lead guitarist Jonathan Donais make up the band’s current lineup. Ian is the only member of Anthrax that has remained consistent throughout the band’s several lineup changes.
