The 30th anniversary edition of Alice In Chains‘ “Unplugged” album will be released, as per theprp. On April 10, 1996, that magnificent concert was taped for MTV, and it was made available in July of the same year. In 2022, it achieved double platinum certification. Vinyl and CD pressings of the project are currently accepting preorders via shop.aliceinchains.com, with a tentative release date of September 25th. Both ordinary black vinyl and solar flare coloured vinyl pressing are available at that official store. The album is available on a ruby red vinyl pressing through Brooklyn Vegan and Revolver. The American rock group Alice in Chains (commonly shortened to AiC) was founded in Seattle in 1987. The band’s lineup has included drummer Sean Kinney, bassist Mike Inez, and vocalists/guitarists Jerry Cantrell and William DuVall since 2006. Former band members include bassist Mike Starr and vocalist Layne Staley. Heavy metal is the foundation of Alice in Chains‘ sound and style, which is frequently linked to grunge music. The group is well-known for its unique vocal approach, which frequently featured Staley and Cantrell’s (and later Cantrell and DuVall’s) harmonised vocals. Cantrell, Kinney, Staley, and Starr made up the initial lineup of Alice in Chains. They adopted the name from Alice N’ Chains, Staley’s former band.
Together with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden, the band became well-known during the early 1990s grunge movement. The single “Man in the Box” from their 1990 debut album “Facelift” helped them gain popularity on MTV and mainstream radio. The band’s follow-up album, “Dirt”, was a huge commercial and mainstream success later that year, following the release of the EP “Sap” in early 1992. Among other hits, “Rooster” and “Would?” were included in “Dirt”. Early in 1993, Inez took Starr’s position on bass. The popular single “No Excuses” from 1994’s “Jar of Flies” and the radio successes “Heaven Beside You” and “Grind” from 1995’s Alice in Chains both peaked at the top of the US Billboard 200 chart.
