Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage) addresses the delays of his project Burn Eternal

Author Benedetta Baldin - 9.5.2026

The long-awaited project Burn Eternal, which reunites former frontman Howards Jones of Killswitch Engage with guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, appears to be in a condition of continuous limbo, as per theprp. The group announced in 2023 that they were wrapping up their debut album together, and mixing for that record started in the spring of 2024. Two years later, the band hasn’t released a single. Dutkiewicz provided an update on the project in a recent interview with Metal Injection, but it appears that the protracted wait will continue for the time being.

I’m very excited for the Burn Eternal thing, man. I’m getting upset that it’s taking so long. It’s partially our management’s fault. It’s partially us talking to a lot of record companies. We were trying to hammer out a deal with the right record company to put it out. And then the style of deal, nowadays, record deals have changed so drastically because of the way revenue is made from album sales or the lack of album sales.

The record’s been mixed and mastered for months now. And the vinyl mastering is done. The regular record mastering is done. Now, we’re trying to source out artwork. We’re ready to go.

Dutkiewicz responded as follows when asked if the two intended to commemorate this collaboration with any upcoming live performances.

Jones and I have talked about it. Yeah, we’re very interested in bringing it on tour, if people want it, that is. You know, the demand has to be there, obviously. But then I obviously have to find a band to play it. So there’s that part.
