Finland’s biggest music show, Yle’s New Music Competition (UMK), will culminate on February 8th at Nokia Arena in Tampere, where six artists will take the stage this year. According to UMK rules, there is no need to add a new contestant to replace the eliminated participant.
“Unfortunately, One Morning Left will not be seen in this year’s UMK, as the competition rules have not been fully complied with,” commented UMK’s executive producer Anssi Autio. “The decision was also related to the EBU’s Eurovision Song Contest rules, according to which such a rule violation is an unequivocal obstacle to Eurovision representation.“
The winner of the New Music Competition will be selected on February 8th, 2025, at the UMK25 event at Nokia Arena in Tampere. The live broadcast of the UMK show will be seen and heard live on Yle TV1, Yle Areena, and Yle radio channels. The winner will be determined by combining public votes and points given by an international jury: the viewers’ votes carry a weight of 75% and the international jury 25%.
