Most anticipated Finnish albums of 2024

The year 2024 has officially begun, and ahead lies a year filled with promising metal albums from both established names and rising stars. Many bands have already announced plans to release new albums, while others are still finalizing their own releases. Below are some highlights of the most anticipated domestic albums.


Finnish metal favorite Mokoma is gearing up to release their highly anticipated new album, “Myrsky,” on March 8th through their label, Sakara Records.


Vocalist Tommy Tuovinen, guitarist Daniel Freyberg, bassist Jukka Koskinen, and drummer Heikki Saari, all involved in various projects, have formed a new band called Crownshift. We eagerly await the debut album from the band in 2024.


The Finnish metal giant Nightwish has been quietly working on their new album, currently in the mixing phase. News of the release is expected soon. You can check out band’s official merchandise here.


Jari Mäenpää’s Wintersun is set to make a significant announcement about their future. The band’s latest album, “The Forest Seasons,” was released in 2017, so hopefully, after seven years of anticipation, we will hear new music from them this year. Hopefully the TIME has come.


Punk rock band Huora is set to release their next album, titled “Neljä huolenaikaa,” on March 15th through Sakara Records. This album is a follow-up to the 2022 release, “Älä luovuta.”


Finnish folk metal favorite Ensiferum has recently completed the recording of their ninth studio album. So, we can expect this album to be released soon.

Marko Hietala

Bassist-vocalist Marko Hietala, who parted ways with Nightwish, spent the fall of 2023 recording his new album, set to be released in 2024. More details about the album are expected very soon.

Satanic North

Black metal band Satanic North, featuring members of Ensiferum, recently signed a record deal with Reaper Entertainment. We anticipate the release of their new album in 2024.


Domestic metal promising act Merta has shared on social media that they are recording a new album. With the process in its final stages, we can expect news about the album very soon.


Finnish folk metal favorite Korpiklaani will release their highly anticipated new album, “Rankarumpu,” on April 5th. The album will be available for order, for example, here.

Dawn Of Solace

Metal band Dawn of Solace announced at the end of 2023 that they are entering the phase of working on a new album. It’s possible that we will get the album in 2024.


Extreme metal favorite Medeia released their acclaimed album “Xenosis” in 2019. There’s hope that the band has written enough material for a new album this year.


One of the most underrated metal bands from Finland, Nicole, has finally completed their new album, titled “Entropia.” We can expect to listen to the album at some point in 2024.

One Morning Left

Metalcore favorite One Morning Left, who released their last album in 2021, has teased significant news. We hope this announcement is about a new album. The band will release the next single from the album on February 2nd.

Blind Channel

Tyrantti – Rock In The City Vantaa – 2022

Leather-scented metal band Tyrantti announced on social media their intention to release new music at the beginning of 2024, so we eagerly await a new album this year.

Oranssi Pazuzu

Psychedelic black metal star Oranssi Pazuzu has documented the creation process of their new album on social media. Therefore, it’s highly likely that the album will be released in 2024.


Making a return to releasing new music, Ruoska has released some new singles over the past few years. Next, we are expecting an announcement from the Finnish Rammstein about the release of a new album.

Laurenne / Louhimo

Metal vocalists Netta Laurenne and Noora Louhimo have transitioned to recording vocal tracks for their next album. We eagerly anticipate the release of their new album in 2024.

Sami Yaffa

Musician Sami Yaffa, known for his association with Hanoi Rocks, has announced plans to release a new solo album in the spring. Yaffa’s new album, titled “Satan’s Helpers War Lazer Eyes and the Money Pig Circus,” will be released on March 8th. The album features guest appearances by Michael Monroe, Nasty Suicide, Dregen, Steve Conte, and Rich Jones.


Finnish black metal legend Horna is set to release their next album sometime this year. The band spent the end of last year in the studio recording the album, so we can likely expect an announcement related to the album soon.

The Abbey

Ranked third in Kaaoszine’s 2023 reader poll for the newcomer category, The Abbey announced at the end of 2023 that they have begun writing the follow-up to their debut album, “Word Of Sin.” Could we possibly get more new music from the band in the form of an album by the end of this year?

Fear Of Domination

Industrial metal force Fear Of Domination has silently prepared music for their upcoming album, with the schedule still in the shadows. We hope the album will be released by the end of the year.


OutoKuva Shereign

Shereign spent 2023 writing music for their next album, and in late November, they treated us to the heavier side of their music with the song “Visual Animals.” Since the band has been working on the album for a while, we might expect it to see the light of day in 2024, even though there hasn’t been much information disclosed about it yet.

Moon Shot

Comprising former members of Children Of Bodom, Lapko, and Disco Ensemble, Moon Shot is set to release their second album this year. We’ve already had a taste of the album with the song “Shadow Boxer,” so the album might be released in the first half of the year, just in time for summer festival gigs.
