As we reported earlier today, Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley will be going on a book tour in the US with his memoir, “WALKING DISASTER – My Life Through Heaven And Hell”, which will be published on 8 October 2024. The Canadian rockers are currently travelling the globe, playing their farewell tour. After two final shows in their home country Canada at the end of January 2025, Sum 41 are going to disband. A teaser from the band, “Tune in Wednesday morning Deryck Whibley announcement”, has Sum 41 fans speculating that Deryck Whibley could be announced as Linkin Park‘s new lead vocalist. The speculation is not only based on the fact that Sum 41 are disbanding soon, but also that Linkin Park currently have a mysterious countdown running that will end at about the same time as the “Deryck Whibley announcement” will be made. Since the suicide of Linkin Park lead vocalist Chester Bennington on 20 July 2017, the American nu metal band has been on hiatus. Rumours of a continuation of the band with a new lead vocalist have been popping up ever since. Linkin Park rapper Mike Shinoda has asked people in the past not to get their hopes up too high, though. If you want to know what Linkin Park could look and sound like with Deryck Whibley as the new lead vocalist, you can check out the live footage below of Sum 41 covering Linkin Park‘s “Faint” together with Mike Shinoda at Reading Festival 2018:
