Billy Corgan, the guitarist and singer for The Smashing Pumpkins, made an unexpected cameo at last night’s Coachella festival in Indio Valley, California, as per theprp. The gold-certified 1995 hit song “1979” by The Smashing Pumpkins was performed live by the diamond-certified alternative rock star. Remarkably, this appearance was Corgan’s first-ever live performance at the yearly spring festival, according to sombr. Below is fan-shot video of that couple that has been posted online.

Born in New York City, Sombr grew up on the Lower East Side. He is the son of Andy Boose and Bennah Serfaty, both of whom were employed by amfAR. After releasing “Caroline” in June 2022, Sombr left LaGuardia High School during his junior year as a voice major. At the moment, he resides in Los Angeles, California. After learning about GarageBand at the conclusion of elementary school, Sombr started experimenting with harmonies and layering sounds. He progressed to using Logic Pro X and studying production methods through online courses in middle school. He began taking music more seriously by high school and concentrated on creating his own songs instead of collaborating with outside producers.

Following the release of his debut track, Boose changed his name to Sombr, claiming that it reflected his emotional state at the time and included his initials (SMB). In October 2021, “Nothing Left to Say” became his debut single. After “Caroline” (2022) became viral, Sombr obtained a record deal with Warner Records and released “Weak” in early 2023. Tony Berg co-produced his debut EP, “In Another Life”, which was released in September 2023. When his songs “Back to Friends” and “Undressed” went viral on TikTok in March 2025, Sombr received a lot of attention. Increased streams and chart appearances in several nations resulted from this, including ranking in the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Global 200.
