On Saturday, December 13, renowned vocalist John Bush delivered the inaugural performance of a three-concert series showcasing his musical contributions during his decade-long tenure with Anthrax, as per blabbermouth.net. The event took place at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California. Bush performed selections from all four albums recorded with Anthrax: “Sound Of White Noise,” “Stomp 442,” “Volume 8: The Threat Is Real,” and “We’ve Come For You All.” His live ensemble comprised his Category 7 bandmates Phil Demmel (guitar), Mike Orlando (guitar), and Jason Bittner (drums). Joey Vera, Bush’s longtime associate and close friend from Armored Saint, played bass, substituting for Jack Gibson, who was unavailable due to scheduling conflicts. Category 7 served as the opening act before functioning as Bush’s backing band for the Anthrax repertoire. The setlist featured not only popular anthems but also deeper cuts that had not been performed live for several years. Fan-recorded footage of the entire concert is currently accessible.

Anthrax has experienced several vocalists over the past 42 years, including Bush, Belladonna, Neil Turbin, and Dan Nelson. Guitarist Scott Ian and drummer Charlie Benante are the only members to have participated in every studio album. Neil Turbin contributed vocals on the band’s debut album, “Fistful Of Metal,” released in 1984, before being replaced by Belladonna. Belladonna performed on four albums, notably the acclaimed “Among The Living” (1987), until his departure due to creative and stylistic disagreements. Bush served as the band’s vocalist from 1992 to 2005 but was sidelined during the reunion with Belladonna for a 20th-anniversary tour. Following the collapse of that tour and strained relations with Nelson, Bush returned briefly before Belladonna resumed the vocal role in 2010.
