On July 28, Knocked Loose and rapper Denzel Curry gave their first live performance of their song “Hive Mind“, as per theprp. The Substance Skatepark in Brooklyn, New York hosted an intimate evening that included that free performance. The magnitude of the venue was significantly different from Knocked Loose‘s most recent performance, which opened for Metallica at London Stadium earlier this month. This collaboration between Knocked Loose and Curry was initially made public in February of this year. Recently, Curry has also been thinking about getting more involved in the hardcore scene. Since Knocked Loose and Curry will be touring North America together this autumn, fans of both bands can probably anticipate seeing this collaboration live onstage later in the year.
Vocalist Bryan Garris, guitarist Isaac Hale, bassist Kevin Otten, and drummer Dylan Isaacs created Knocked Loosein June 2013 under the name Manipulator. With the exception of Isaacs, all of the members had previously performed with Jared Barron on drums in the band Speaker. They changed their name to Knocked Loose after receiving a call from another band called Manipulator shortly after advertising their July 26 debut performance. “Manipulator” was the band’s debut single, which came out in August 2013. The band’s following song, “The Have Nots,” was released on October 24, the same month Little Heart Records announced that they had signed Knocked Loose. October 2014 saw the re-release of both songs as 2013 demos.
“Pop Culture”, their debut EP, was published by Little Heart Records in 2014. Additionally, Knocked Loosecontributed the song “SS” to the Little Heart Records sampler “I Would Have Waited an Eternity for This”, which was part of the Warped Tour that year. The majority of the band’s early years were devoted to excessive American touring. They released a split with Damaged Goods on No Luck Records in 2015 (and digitally through Little Heart).
