Trivium frontman Matt Heafy, who began his journey in Brazilian jiu-jitsu a decade ago, has officially earned his black belt.

Below you can read his thoughts on receiving that honor. While a black belt and its various dans are often seen to represent an expert in a specific martial art, it’s more complicated in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
