Tommy Vext has revealed on social media the details of his next project and how it relates to his old band, Bad Wolves, as reported by theprp. Industry speculations earlier this year suggested that Vext and guitarist Chris Cain, a fellow Bad Wolves alumnus, were preparing to reassemble the multi-platinum alternative metal band with Vext returning to the lead role. It was definitely the right time. This past April, bassist/vocalist Kyle Konkiel and guitarist Doc Coyle both announced their departure. Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz, a vocalist and guitarist, also left, joining Falling In Reverse in June. Only drummer John Boecklin, guitarist AJ Rebollo, and bassist Kevin Creekman remained in the band.
Vext and company offered Boecklin a million dollars to acquire the rights to the Bad Wolves name, but Boecklin ultimately opted against the sale after pondering it for more than a month, according to statements made by Vext on Instagram in recent weeks.
We offered a million dollars for the name back and John changed his mind after 6 weeks. It was fairly confusing, but we wish him well and good luck with Sarah and Javier! – Tommy Vext
According to reports, the Javier in question is Javier Reyes from Animals As Leaders. Although there hasn’t been an official confirmation yet, current fan conjecture suggests that the vocalist is Sarah JoAnne of anchor.thought.
It’s not a joke the singer (they) is a great vocalist and the new guitarist is from a prog band called animals as leaders. I’m sure it will be a cool new band just not sure why they are calling it bad wolves since Doc, Kyle, Chris, DL, Max and I have all left left But John can do what he wants just not sure how the audience is gonna react. – Tommy Vext
DL quit and joined falling in reverse. Doc quit and joined Snot. Kyle got a corporate gig. Chris quit a second time and formed a new band with me. John hired a chick singer now the drummer is the only original member. Hopefully the new record kicks ass and they don’t go further woke – Tommy Vext
After auditioning bandmates with renditions of Bad Wolves songs in August of last year, Vext is believed to have already hinted at his ambitions for Bad Wolves. However, Vext said at the time that those auditions were meant for a new band with Cain, which he has since been teasing on social media with three unidentified members. Vext’s tenure as Bad Wolves‘ leader ended in 2021, and he had a tense past with the team. His contentious political statements and opinions, a domestic abuse case, and other problems between him and band members that spilled into the public eye all contributed to that breakup.
Following that, Vext and the band’s camp engaged in conflicting legal actions, which were settled in 2021. But in 2024, when Vext and the group’s members engaged in yet another verbal spat on social media, legal tensions between the two sides erupted once more.
