Tommy Lee doesn’t hesitate to express his views on anything, including politics and music, as per UCR. The drummer for Motley Crue becomes extremely irritated when online critics encourage him to “shut up and drum.” During a recent visit on the Magnificent Others with Billy Corgan podcast, the legendary member of Motley Crue acknowledged this.
I hate that, ‘Just shut up and play drums,’ What, I don’t have an opinion or a voice?
Fans “don’t have to agree” with anything Lee says, he added, adding that he frequently “just spits out some bull— that I think.” Nevertheless, he feels that, like everyone else, he has the right to express his thoughts.
Although the majority of Lee’s social media posts are about music, his wife, or touring, he has also made scathing remarks against President Donald Trump. In one instance from earlier this year, Lee questioned, “How f—ing stupid do you have to be to still be a Trump supporter at this point?” Trump supporters responded angrily to the post, many of them taking personal jabs at the drummer, but there were also many supportive comments from those who agreed with him. Lee said he’s usually able to ignore the detractors, despite his irritation at such situations.
When asked what he might do to improve society as it is now, Lee responded with a message of solidarity.
I don’t even know if it’s possible, but God, I’m sure it would be cool if everybody was so just, just not divided so much, I feel like everybody’s running their own program and like, just all over the place.
