Fans of Cheap Trick and Motley Crue are renowned for being ardent collectors. However, Rick Nielsen wants to offer you the opportunity to purchase something that you most definitely do not now own. The legendary guitarist is giving one lucky fan the opportunity to purchase his raincoat as part of his upcoming auction, which also includes a number of his well-known and unique outfits, numerous guitars, and even a checkered John Deere tractor worthy of Cheap Trick. However, since it’s the renowned raincoat that Motley bassist Nikki Sixx urinated on, it’s not just any raincoat.

The best thing is that you will be supporting a worthy cause if you manage to obtain this sought-after item. Over 300 objects will be sold on October 24 in Nashville under the direction of Julien’s Auction, with a portion of the earnings going to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It’s a good question, and fortunately, he captured the moment in the band’s iconic biography, The Dirt. Remember that Sixx has been sober for a long period and that this occurred many years ago.

While Motley Crue was touring for the Theater of Pain album, the two bands performed together on Valentine’s Day in 1986 at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. For a series of gigs, including the Hammersmith show, Cheap Trick had jumped on as the opening act. The bassist said that he was a “vengeful, self-hating junkie” during this difficult time, and he remembered that a dramatic sequence of events following the gig resulted in a heroin overdose.

Sixx revealed that even though it ought to have been a wake-up call, it wasn’t. He went back out on the town a few days later. Nielsen wanted to show him Roger Taylor from Queen. The drummer had extended an invitation to the members of Cheap Trick and Motley to join him for supper at a Russian restaurant that he claimed had long been a favorite spot for both Queen and the Rolling Stones.

We sat around a huge antique wooden table and drank every kind of vodka shot known to man—sweet, spicy, raspberry, garlic—before feasting on a Russian dinner, Rick was wearing a black rubber jacket, and for some reason I kept telling him that I wanted to piss on it.

Dessert was served by the servers on silver platters with seven lines of cocaine on each. Therefore, it’s safe to conclude that everyone in the room was in a good mood. Perhaps too good. The action resumed when they returned to the hotel bar, and this is when things started to change.

Roger Taylor was talking to Rick Nielsen while I sat on a stool behind them. I kneeled on the stool, pulled down my leather pants, and did what I’d been promising to all night: peed on Rick’s jacket. He didn’t even realize anything was happening until it started dribbling down his pants and onto the floor. I thought it was pretty funny at the time, but when I went up to my room afterwards, I felt terrible: I had just pissed on my hero.

The musician was able to laugh about the situation years later in a 2021 interview.

It was Euro-pee-in’. Yeah, it was true. I had this jacket or a coat and it was rubberized. It was around the time when all the punks were doing it.” I liked this thing because it was a rubber coat and it looked like a Gestapo coat and I got a Norton rubber belt with a Norton motorcycle insignia on it,” he explained. “It was just…it was awful. It was not me, but it was so disgusting and I had it. So I was standing there at the bar and he was peeing. Luckily it was a rubber coat because you’re peeing on the back of my coat.

The 77-year-old guitar legend claims that his wife suggested reducing the quantity of his collection.

I always told people, when I die, my wife will probably sell everything for a dollar, so stick around. But then I lived a bit longer than she thought.
