Earlier this month, The Sisters Of Mercy made headlines when they reportedly left the stage in Germany’s capital Berlin after just around 40 minutes. The British gothic rock legends are currently on an extensive European tour. A medical problem was given as the reason for the shortened set in Berlin. Due to the eccentric nature of The Sisters Of Mercy frontman Andrew Eldritch, the explanation of a medical problem was not believed by everyone, especially after the show in the German city of Leipzig the following day seemed to have taken place without any problems.
Despite a day off after the show in Leipzig, the following two concerts in the German cities of Cologne and Wiesbaden were cancelled. Again, health issues were cited as the reason. The cancellation in Cologne came at particularly short notice, namely after the support act The Virginmarys had already played their set in a completely sold-out venue. The same thing happened again a few days ago in Portugal’s capital Lisbon: The performance of The Sisters Of Mercy was cancelled after The Virginmarys had already warmed up the crowd in a completely sold-out venue, and Andrew Eldritch reportedly spent the night in the hospital.
Despite the repeated cancellations, The Sisters Of Mercy are now announcing replacement dates for the three cancelled shows in Germany:
17 January 2024: Wiesbaden, Schlachthof
18 January 2024: Berlin, Columbiahalle
21 January 2024: Cologne, Carlswerk Victoria (New venue)
