One of Finland’s most internationally renowned bands, The Rasmus will play a charity concert in Ukraine next summer on 19th July as the headliner of the Atlas Festival, the only foreign artist at the event. In this way, the band wants to help Ukraine in its own way.
It’s scary to play in the middle of a war, but we want to show our support for the Ukrainian people. We have a massive fan base in Ukraine and we have previously done a joint song with the Ukrainian Eurovision winner Kalush Orchestra. Lauri Ylönen
More than 60 000 people are expected to attend the festival. The festival has a comprehensive security system in place and the event is prepared to evacuate the audience and performers within minutes if necessary.
Last year, the festival raised over €2 million for charity.
It is up to the artists themselves to choose which Ukraine-related charity to direct the money to, such as supporting children’s hospitals, buying ambulances or helping combat medics.
The Rasmus is currently on tour in the USA.
