“The next project I’m doing is based on Irish history, and it will be a dark folk metal kind of thing” – Gavin Dunne reveals his future plans to Chaoszine

With over a billion organic cross-platform streams and the viral hit “Valhalla Calling”, Miracle Of Sound released his first-ever physical release and Napalm Records debut, “Materia (Best Of 2011 – 2024)” on November 8, 2024. This album showcases the great talent of musician and producer Gavin Dunne, sending the listener through a mystical world of Vikings, pirates, sea shanties, Celtic history, modern fantasy and more.

As a multi-instrumentalist (even though he doesn’t see himself as one), songwriter, and singer, Gavin‘s solo project has achieved multiple #1 chart appearances all over Europe and produced viral hits. His music celebrates great stories inspired by characters and tales from TV, video games, books, and movies, with collaborations with industry giants like Ubisoft, Bioware, Owlcat/Games Workshop, EA and Bethesda for titles such as “Mass Effect”, “Assassin’s Creed”, “Warhammer 40k”, “Wasteland 2” and “Watch Dogs”.

Chaoszine had the opportunity to chat with Gavin about his project, his career trajectory – not a very common one in the world of heavy music – from his first attempts at playing guitar on a tennis racket, his first real rock band and moving on into the realm of making and sharing music through YouTube and other social media and streaming apps.

Gavin also revealed how difficult it was to choose a tracklist from his extensive repertoire of over 200 songs, and spoke of his creative process with recording and production. He also shared the reason for the Miracle Of Sound name, and his inspirations outside of music. He also revealed some of his future plans for works to come, inspired by Irish history and mythology, with a dark folk twist, inspired by Wardruna and Heilung. Touring plans, including a date at Tavastia, the legendary Helsinki club, also came up.
