Skeletor will be portrayed by Jared Leto of 30 Seconds To Mars in the next Masters of the Universe. The frontman’s casting as the evil sorcerer, He-Man’s arch-enemy, has been confirmed after he was first mentioned in connection with the part in September. According to Deadline, three more actors have joined the cast of Travis Knight’s live-action movie for Amazon MGM and Mattel Films. These actors are Sam C. Wilson from House of the Dragon, Hafthor Bjornsson from Game of Thrones, and Kojo Attah from In the Grey, who will all play different antagonists. Kojo portrays Tri-Klops, a proficient swordsman and technological expert, while Hafthor is the goat-like Goat Man. Sam plays Trap Jaw, one of Skeletor’s main goons, who is renowned for his weapons and cybernetic upgrades.
The cast includes Nicholas Galtzine as He-Man, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba as Duncan, Man-At-Arms, and Camila Mendes as Teela. Although the specifics of the plot have not yet been disclosed, Bumblebee director Knight is directing from a script written by Chris Butler. In 1982, action figures of Masters of the Universe were released, focusing on the conflict between the evil Skeletor and the good He-Man. The next year saw the debut of the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and the franchise has since seen numerous film and television adaptations. After a two-decade voyage to the big screen, the film is scheduled for release in June 2026. Although directors John Stevenson, Jon M. Chu, and McG have been involved with the project since 2007, Netflix cancelled it last year owing to financial issues.
We’re thrilled to bring the beloved ‘Masters of the Universe’ to life and couldn’t be more excited to announce the immensely talented Nicholas Galitzine as our He-Man. Joining forces with director Travis Knight, Mattel, and Escape Artists, this reintroduction of the character and his universe will be an epic film that will delight audiences from here to Eternia.
