Self-described as “Luciferian Black Metal,” THE MAGUS is a band that aligns with the extreme side of metal music, grounding their sound in occultism and Greek mysticism.
THE MAGUS originated from one of Greece’s oldest black metal bands: Necromantia. Dating back to 1989, Necromantia enjoyed a long career until the passing of their key member, Baron Blood (bass), in 2019. His bandmate, The Magus (vocals, guitars, keyboards), decided to disband the project and create a new band that would carry their roots forward—but with a fresh start. Suddenly, THE MAGUS was born, with the same name, the same spirit, but a new attitude. The band now features other notable figures in the Greek black metal scene, including EI (Soulskinner, Zaratus, Thou Art Lord, Principality of Hell) and Maelstrom (Necromantia, Yoth Iria, Thou Art Lord, Principality of Hell).
Despite being relatively new, THE MAGUS has already released two studio albums, “Vissodomontas” (2023) and “Daemonosophia” (2026), the latter released on 20 February 2026 through The Circle Music. They are treating their fans to a special edition, “The Alchemical Gold Box-set Edition,” packed with goodies for the most loyal followers. An unboxing of this impressive edition is available here.

There are only 150 copies available, so if you’re a fan of limited editions, act fast. Copies can be purchased through Bandcamp or The Circle Music.
Additionally, the cover artwork for “Daemonosophia” was created by Nestor Ávalos, a renowned visual artist in the extreme metal scene, who has worked with major bands such as Bloodbath, Septicflesh, Moonspell, Kreator, Rotting Christ, among others. Overall, “Daemonosophia” exemplifies the greatness that Greek black metal has to offer both musically and visually.
