Nicke Andersson, the Swedish musician best known for his work with The Hellacopters and Entombed, has announced his first fully solo album, “Nicke Andersson and Nobody Else”. The project will see him handle every instrument, production and even the artwork himself.

Although Andersson has spent nearly four decades playing in and leading bands, the new record marks the first time he has taken complete responsibility for every aspect of a full-length solo release. Rather than assemble another band around his songwriting, he has chosen to make the album entirely on his own.

The songs explore themes including ambition, exhaustion, love and identity. The album is being released in collaboration with Sound Pollution, with further details about its track listing and release date still to be announced.

Andersson first made his name as the drummer of pioneering Swedish death metal band Entombed, having previously played in its precursor Nihilist. In 1994, he co-founded The Hellacopters, helping to shape a sound that combined hard rock, punk and classic rock ‘n’ roll.

He left Entombed in 1998 to concentrate on The Hellacopters, which would become one of Sweden’s best-known rock exports. His career has also included work with The Hydromatics, The Solution, Death Breath, Imperial State Electric and Lucifer, as well as production work for other artists.

Despite that extensive résumé, “Nicke Andersson and Nobody Else” represents a different approach. Andersson is not simply fronting a new project under his own name: he is performing and producing the entire album without a backing group.

No exact release date, lead single or track listing has been confirmed yet. More information is expected as the album’s release approaches. Fans can revisit The Hellacopters’ recent album news while awaiting further details of Andersson’s solo debut.
