Every year, a number of notable bands and artists from rock music are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. However, there are also many from other genres, which often angers rock and metal fans. This year, for example, country singer Dolly Parton and rapper Eminem were added.
In a recent interview with Audacy, Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame CEO Greg Harris was asked about the bands and artists added to the museum this year. Harris had this to say about Eminem:
“For a lot of years people asked about hip hop. He’s the 10th artist to be sort of categorized that way. But you listen to his music, it is as hard hitting and straight ahead as any metal song. It’s right there. It’s a chest punch with a message and with a power and with a rhythm and with a band. We’re thrilled he’s going in [his] first year of eligibility, it’s a big statement.”
The legendary metal band Judas Priest also received great recognition from the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. The band received the Musical Excellence Award.
