Social Distortion releases new album after nearly 15 years – title track ‘Born To Kill’ out now with music video

Legendary American punk rock band Social Distortion is releasing a new album after nearly 15 years. Their eighth studio album, “Born To Kill”, will be released on May 8 via Epitaph. The title track is now available with a music video.

With its tight groove, fiery riffs, and sheer determination, the title track is full of classic Social Distortion edge, but it doesn’t bow down to nostalgia. The eleven-track album is full of rock ‘n’ roll, defiant attitude, and life-hardened wisdom that has made Mike Ness the voice of his generation for over four decades. Social Distortion doesn’t hide its musical influences, but proudly showcases them. The title track, released today, pays homage to Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, and David Bowie.

The album was produced by Mike Ness and Dave Sardy. Guest artists on the album include Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Lucinda Williams, and the cover art was created by Mike Ness and Shepard Fairey.

“Born To Kill” continues an impressive catalog that includes the albums “Mommy’s Little Monster” (1983), “Prison Bound” (1988), the self-titled “Social Distortion” (1990), “Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell” (1992), “White Light, White Heat, White Trash” (1996), “Sex, Love and Rock ‘n’ Roll” (2004) and, most recently, “Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes “(2011).

With the release of their new album, the band is heading out on a European tour, which will kick off in Norway and continue through Sweden and down to Central Europe. Check out the tour dates here and watch the new music video below.
