Sammy Hagar replies to the latest comment Alex Van Halen made of him

Sammy Hagar has addressed Alex Van Halen after the singer was referred to as a “complete idiot” by the renowned drummer of Van Halen, as per Blabbermouth. Earlier this year, the 73-year-old Alex made the remark in an interview with Marcelo Vieira, a Brazilian music writer who translated Van Halen’s “Brothers” biography into Portuguese for the Brazilian market. The drummer was questioned about some of the other Van Halen-related books, including David Lee Roth’s 1997 autobiography “Crazy From The Heat” and Hagar’s 2011 book “Red: My Uncensored Life In Rock,” during Marcelo’s interview with Alex, which was published in issue 293 of the venerable Brazilian magazine Roadie Crew. This is what Alex stated about Roth’s book.

It’s quite fun and accurately reflects [David’s] sense of humor. Although the text is somewhat abstract and loses its train of thought at times, it’s still a very interesting perspective on that era. I don’t know what he wrote, and I don’t wanna know. In my opinion, Sammy Hagar is a complete idiot.

Sammy said this on September 5 in the comments area beneath an Instagram post that Rock Celebrities shared on Alex’s remarks.

This comment and post is so unnecessary at this time in our lives, but I guess the truth hurts sometimes. Peace already.

After taking David Lee Roth’s position in Van Halen in 1985, Hagar recorded four studio albums with the group, including “5150,” “OU812,” “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge,” and “Balance,” all of which peaked at number one on the US chart. The last time Sammy, Eddie, Alex, and Michael performed together was on a summer tour of the United States in 2004. Anthony allegedly had to consent to a compensation reduction and give up his rights to the band name and emblem in order to participate in the tour.
