The former vocalist of Kamelot, Roy Khan, who currently sings for Conception, is in the process of crafting his debut solo record, a venture he initially introduced in late 2024, as per Blabbermouth. This album marks a fresh creative phase in the Norwegian artist’s journey, emerging after a resurgence of live performances and a deeper connection with his fans. Recently, Khan posted on Instagram, offering a glimpse into his songwriting journey.
The production of Khan‘s solo project is being handled by Sascha Paeth, a seasoned producer, composer, and musician renowned in the European metal scene. Paeth is famous for his essential influence on pivotal Kamelot albums such as “The Fourth Legacy,” “Karma,” “Epica,” and “The Black Halo,” as well as for collaborating with other groups like Avantasia, Epica, and Angra. His unique mix of intensity, sophistication, and cinematic quality resonates with the artistic vision Khan has continuously cultivated throughout his career.
In addition to Paeth’s production, Caio Kehyayan from Firewing and Adrienne Cowan from Seven Spires are also co-producing the album and have played significant roles in the songwriting. Bill Hudson, recognized for his associations with Trans-Siberian Orchestra, I Am Morbid, and Circle II Circle, has also contributed to the songwriting. Several joint sessions have been instrumental in establishing the fundamental musical direction and initial framework of the album, emphasizing an active and cooperative pre-production stage.
Currently unnamed and lacking a set release date, the upcoming solo album is expected to venture into fresh aspects of Khan‘s musical range, merging a unique personal style with the knowledge gained from his time with Kamelot and Conception. Additional information about recording processes, featured artists, and next phases will be shared as the project progresses. Alongside his studio efforts, Khan is staying active in live performances. He is scheduled to perform at the Bangers Open Air on April 26, 2026, in São Paulo, and will join Seven Spires as a special guest at the official pre-party of the festival on April 24 at Audio. In July of the previous year, Khan performed at Tokio Marine Hall in São Paulo, Brazil, for a special one-time event honoring the 20th anniversary of Kamelot‘s album “The Black Halo. “
