A music video for Primus‘ song “The Ol’ Grizz” has been released, as per theprp. The oddball ensemble released their EP “A Handful Of Nuggs” in May of this year, which included that brand-new tune. The song will also be included in the band’s upcoming tenth studio album, which they anticipate releasing in 2027. Cage Claypool, the son of the band’s bassist and vocalist Les Claypool, directed this largely animated clip, which was once again a family affair for the group. As previously mentioned, Les’s recent enthusiasm for gold prospecting served as the inspiration for both the song and the EP in question. Just before their upcoming European and UK tour in nearly ten years, Primus released this video.

In 1984, the American rock group Primus was founded in El Sobrante, California. The band’s members as of 2026 are drummer John “Hoffer” Hoffman, guitarist Larry “Ler” LaLonde, and bassist/vocalist Les Claypool. Claypool, guitarist Todd Huth, and drummer Jay Lane joined Primus in 1984; however, the latter two left in 1989 and were replaced by LaLonde and Tim “Herb” Alexander, respectively. The live album “Suck on This”, which was self-released in 1989 on Claypool’s label Prawn Song and reissued a year later by Caroline Records, marked the debut of the “classic” lineup of Claypool, LaLonde, and Alexander. Additionally, Caroline published Primus‘ 1990 debut studio album Frizzle Fry, which earned positive reviews from critics and attracted interest from big record labels due to its underground success.
